Monday

At last the outside temperature is a little warmer. It's now a balmy 46 degrees outside and rainy. Last week it never made it out of the thirties. The weatherman said that maybe the rain will turn to snow overnight.
I've spent the day doing laundry and getting the house ready for company. I'm pretty sure I have all the ingredients for Thanksgiving dinner. We are expecting 22 friends and relatives for dinner.
Hers whats on the menu:
Roast Turkey
Stuffing
Mashed Potatoes
Gravy
Sweet Potato Casserole
Broccoli Casserole
Green Beans
Pickled Beets
Corn
Baked Beans
Cranberry Salad
Homemade Bread
Pumpkin Pie with Homemade Whipped Cream
Chocolate Meringue Pie
Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
Punch, Tea and Coffee.
Each family will contribute one of the items from our menu. My DD will be here on Wednesday to help me make the pies and cakes and prep some of the veggies.
I washed up my tablecloth and napkins today. Tonight I'll wash and dry the holiday dishes so we'll be ready to go.
I really enjoyed the Thanksgiving movie on The Hallmark Channel Saturday night. It will be rebroadcast this Thursday. If you like Louisa Mae Alcott you will love this movie.
I also made my first crocheted dishcloth today. It went very well. The cotton yarn has a different feel to it though. It is a nice quality. I'm going to tuck these into my DDS' gifts this Christmas. I hope they'll like them as much as I do. This one turned out very nicely if i do say so myself.
I'm working on making dishtowel aprons for my 4 little granddaughters. I found a tutorial at As I See It. I am also working on water bottle holders for our grandchildren.I saw these at A Number of Things.
As Thanksgiving approaches I wonder how we can help our children and grandchildren to fully appreciate all they are given. We should be thankful everyday.
Today I'm grateful for my Angel Food order we picked up Saturday, for tutorials that show how to make cool gifts, for clean laundry and for good books!

I love crocheted dishcloths! I make them from cotton baby yarn and they are lightweight but pretty sturdy. I always use white so I can bleach them. Your menu sounds wonderful - enjoy! blessings, marlene
